A few months back, i was craving for donuts. Big Apple, Jco kinda thing. Being me, i want it homemade. As usual, i hunt for yummy donut recipe.
Which leads me to MamaFaMi's blog (which i have been following since 2001). Excellent review by her and her family as well. It was adapted from Rima of Bisous a Toi (this is when i discovered Rima's wonderful blog which adds to my list og blogs i heart).
On my 1st attempt, it was a complete disaster because i did not knead the dough until smooth and elastic. The texture was lumpy and did not rise double in size. But i still fry it. My SIL says it taste like Bagel. Hehe.
My 2nd attempt, was not bad. The dough inflated when i was trying to punch a hole in the middle. It didnt ended up in the frying pan. Instead, i baked it. What do i get? Sweet bun! The culprit was the flour i used. It was an Instant Bread Flour. Yikesss!
So today, i took the challenge again. And this time, i'm sure i'll get it right. Alhamdulillah, the dough turns out almost perfect. The donut is soft and yummy. However, ehem ehem, my melted chocolate was not what i've aspected. It was oily and didnt stick to the donut. And why? Because i pour evaporated milk while melting the chocolate. My bad.
Still, cannot waste a good chocolate, no. Using my fingers, i paste the hot and oily melted chocolate to my donut. Huhu. And then cover with shaved chocolate. Yipeee.
It was indeed self satisfactory to indulge in these delish donut. Enjoy!
